Trauma-Informed Certification Training Course
In Person - Toronto - October 2025
YOGA ALLIANCE CERTIFIED®
This important teacher training is designed to help movement facilitators, yoga instructors, and any other wellness enthusiasts to create safer and supportive spaces for themselves and those affected by trauma.

SCIENCE & PHYSIOLOGY OF TRAUMA:
Explore the science of trauma, the parasympathetic/sympathetic nervous system, the various types of types of trauma, common physiological and psychological trauma responses, Polyvagal theory, co-regulation, and the Window of Tolerance. Explore the impact trauma has on mental and emotional function, nervous system dysregulation, and myofascial memory.
SOCIOLOGY OF TRAUMA:
Explore how trauma disproportionately affects marginalized groups, such as: people of colour, those living in larger bodies, and the wide spectrum of gender identities and expressions. Learn how to more inclusively facilitate spaces and reject the structural and sociological hierarchies that have implicated themselves in wellness. We will also discuss the intricacies of cultural appropriation, allyship, diet culture and transgender/non-binary competency.
TECHNIQUES & TOOLS:
To foster braver and more inclusive spaces, this training will also cover methodologies for teaching sensitively, with an emphasis on empowering students and fostering a safe space for individual autonomy. Learn about both the many triggers of yoga and wellness for those who have survived trauma, including the relationship between touch and consent, hands-on assists, physical postures, breath practices, and more. Together we will learn how to cultivate a safer environment, by thoughtfully using grounding techniques, environmental tools, music and language to enhance safety and connection

By the end of this course, you’ll have the tools and techniques to thoughtfully facilitate trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive spaces.
